Dr. Lornell Hansen takes a little time to answer some of the top questions asked about liposuction.
“I get a lot of questions about the liposuction procedures offered at LazaDerm Skincare Centre. People still think of liposuction as the rather drastic method performed years ago. Today, it’s actually a simple minimally invasive procedure used to slim and firm nearly any part of the body.”
What can I expect from liposuction—short-term and long-term?
You can expect to see a trimmer profile and firmer skin in the targeted area within days following the procedure. After liposuction, the treated area has fewer fat cells and should maintain its more contoured look with proper diet and exercise. However, liposuction is not a magic solution that allows you to eat all you want—you will gain weight in the remaining fat cells if you do not maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Do I need to diet or exercise to maintain liposuction results?
You do not need a specific diet but you should eat within your calorie zone and exercise on a regular basis. I am happy to provide you with guidelines for a balanced, healthy lifestyle that allows you the freedom to enjoy a wide variety of foods.
If I need to lose weight before liposuction, can you help me?
Yes! Helping LazaDerm clients lose weight is one reason I was prompted to establish TrueBody Strategic Weight Management. TrueBody is a protein-based weight management program that offers you a lifestyle coach, my medical supervision and fast results. If you need to lose weight before liposuction, TrueBody is a healthy way to get you to your goal.
Liposuction sounds scary. Does it hurt?
Liposuction is only scary if it’s done by an unqualified person. Performed correctly by a skilled physician, today’s minimally invasive methods of liposuction are much less dramatic than the procedures performed decades ago, and therefore much less “scary.” You will most likely experience tenderness and soreness in the days following the procedure, but in most cases this can be alleviated with Tylenol. All liposuction procedures performed at LazaDerm are done on an outpatient procedure by Dr. Hansen.
Will my fat come back?
Your fat cells will NOT come back. Liposuction permanently eliminates them from your body. But, there are still a number of cells remaining in the area and those cells will expand if you don’t follow healthy guidelines for eating and exercise. Liposuction is an amazing solution for trimming and toning your trouble zones, but it does not give you permission to eat all you want without repercussions. Take care of your body and you’ll love your results forever.
