Restylane®

Deep furrows between your brows. Laugh lines that remain after you've stopped laughing. And lips that seem like they're somehow fading away. If you're ready to take on moderate to severe facial lines, Restylane is ready for you.

Sounds great! What are they?

Let's talk about Restylane. Restylane is a natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane is also the ideal choice for adding volume to lips.

Natural?

Yes. It's made from a non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin.

Can it be used in conjunction with other products like Botox®?

Definitely. Restylane is a natural cosmetic filler. In contrast, Botox is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles. Many clients have been very pleased after receiving Restylane and Botox in conjunction with each other.

What is involved in a treatment?

Restylane requires no pre-testing, but patients should take a few precautions before being treated. patients should avoid using aspirin, non-steroideal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements prior to treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also, if patients have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another recurrence. You may consider prescribing a medication to minimize recurrence.

How many Restylane treatments will I need?

The average treatment results last from 4 to 6 months and treatments are typically scheduled twice a year. Evidence shows that having a touch-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated will enhance the lasting effect.

Is it painful?

Not really, but a numbing agent or nerve block will be applied to the area prior to the injection for your comfort.

Is it safe?

Yes. Restylane has been used safely by dermatologists and plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide. Because Restylane is non-animal-based and fully biocompatible, allergy testing is not required. There is virtually no risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. The most commonly reported side effects are temporary redness and swelling or bruising at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within two to three days.
