The spider veins on your face, legs or other areas of your body are making you feel anything but "vain." The good news? The majority of those red or purple surface veins can be reduced or eliminated with little or no discomfort thanks to laser therapy.
How does it work?
In unscientific terms, a laser "zaps" the vein it's targeting, causing the blood that has pooled there to heat up, resulting in the destruction of the vein.
Does it work on larger veins?
Vein removal works best on small veins and spider veins, but it can also be effective on medium sized reticular veins, although there is no way to tell for sure which veins will respond. A consultation to evaluate and assess your veins will be required. Prior surgery or treatment on your veins could affect the treatment outcome.
Will I need repeated treatments?
You'll see improvements after one visit, but up to three visits may be required for desired results. This will depend on the number and size of the veins being treated. In some cases, new spider veins may appear and additional treatments may be necessary. Treatments are recommended at 6 to 8 week intervals.
How long does it take?
Average treatment time should be around 15 to 30 minutes but may vary depending on the number and size of the vessel(s) to be treated.
Does it hurt?
Although many clients report little or no discomfort, some may experience a mild stinging sensation only when the laser pulse is delivered. The cold tip on the hand piece helps soothe the skin as the laser is delivered. A cooling system is also used to help cool the skin and minimize your discomfort.
What about post treatment care?
We encourage you to resume normal activities almost immediately, but do ask that you refrain from vigorous exercise and avoid hot tubs for at least 24 hours. Also, avoid direct sun exposure after treatment and if you do go in the sun, protect the treated area with a minimum SPF 30 sun block (not sunscreen).
