So. You've heard the the Hollywood hype. You know Botox® is the buzzword among the nation's rich and famous.

But what can it do for you?

This simple, non-surgical treatment temporarily smoothes moderate to severe lines around the eyes and mouth, between the brows, on the forehead and even on the neck. It's the only one of its kind that's been FDA approved.

How does it work?

Botox works by blocking nerve impulses with tiny injections, reducing movement of the injected muscles. With less movement, the skin surface gradually smoothes out and lines begin to fade.

How long does it last?

About 4 months. After that, you can repeat the procedure to maintain your smooth new look. If you don't, your skin eventually reverts back to its original condition.

Will my face look "funny"?

No. Your facial expressions won't be affected, but the wrinkles caused by frowns or laughter will be. You won't look like you've just had work done, so you can relax and enjoy your new confidence.

Will it hurt?

There may be mild discomfort at the injection sites, but it won't last long. You can return to work and normal activity immediately.

Any side effects?

Side effects are rare, but do include bruising at the injection site, headache, respiratory infection, nausea, flu-like symptoms and temporary eyelid droop. Botox should not be used in the presence of infection at the proposed injection site(s),or in individuals with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the formulation. Clients with neurological disorders such as ALS, Myasthenia Gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.
