Hi, Jennifer:Sorry for the delay in responding to you.The amnout of retinol contained in Radical Night Repair Plus (1%) is approximately equivalent to tretinoin .1%. Dr. Obagi explains that retinol attaches to retinoic acid receptors in the skin cells, and is converted to retinoic acid there. Because it happens within the skin, it is less irritating than tretinoin which is essentially applying an acid to the surface of the skin. No, it's not normal for your skin to still be so irritated and red after 16 weeks. You'll get the most irritation for the first six weeks; as your skin builds tolerance the irritation is reduced. For the final six weeks you should have very little irritation. Obviously that is not the case with you. That being said, I don't know if I would recommend changing your product selection now. You may want to reduce the amnout of retinoic acid that you are applying, or you may prefer to apply it less frequently. Hang in there, it will get better!When you're ready to begin maintenance, I would continue to use the Retinoic acid/Blender combination 3 nights a week, and use the Radical Night Repair Plus 4 nights a week. No, I would not begin using the Growth FActor Serum at night. It's better for the Retin A/Radical Night Repair products to work alone. Dear Dr. Obagi,I do not always share all my secrets to why my skin is so lucid and fine but I owe all the credit to you! My dentist who has known me for over twenty years, as he tilted the chair back with the bright lights on and his microscopic-lens type glasses just marveled at the appearance of my skin. He just thought it was beautiful and since I see it everyday of course, I see it in a somewhat less awesome light.However, yesterday I went to a new hairdresser and the first thing she said was “you have beautiful skin” and she is probably close to 15 years my junior.NOW, I told HER all about YOU and she is going to be seeing my dermatologist so I know that eventually she will be happy with her ultimate results too.We can all never thank you enough and hope that you had a wonderful holiday!Warmest regards,Anne

Dear Dr. Obagi,Seven years ago I used your NuDerm Regimen for the first time to treat age spots/freckles/hyper-pigmentation for normal/dry skin with 0.025%Tretinoin added. I tolerated all the products well, reducing most of the surface sun damage. I am English with red hair,fair skin with yellow undertones,freckles and rosy cheeks. At the time, I was 50 and although I always had normal/dry skin as I aged my skin became even more dry.I am certainly thank you because it revealed some actinic keratosis spots and now I get check ups every 6 months plus I know what to look for so if a suspicious spot shows up I have it addressed right away.After this NuDerm regimen program in 2002, my skin has continually to become more thin, lose its elasticity and youthful glow no matter what combination of products I tried. People always thought I looked younger than I am and suddenly no one did, especially me.I was recommended using Vivete by Allergan with TriLuma for 3 months with Healthy Skin as my sunscreen. No adverse reaction except for the continual complaint that my skin was too dry, especially in the peri-oral region. After the 3 months I returned to your NuDerm with 0.05% Tretinoin. No adverse reaction other than the dryness which was not relieved by the addition of Obagi NuDerm 10% Vitamin C and Action. I tried alternating, laying off completely and then slowly easing back into the regimen which I was able to do but I continually had to use the NuDerm Action. Okay but not the optimal moisturization either you nor I expect to see. I was on this second round of NuDerm for 20 weeks.I had a couple of Actinic Keratosis spots that needed freezing and I also decided it was time for a change in dermatologists. Considering the use of the Clear and the Tretinoin, I stopped using them 3 weeks before I was to be treated with liquid nitrogen. Fine with me because I used what moisturizing products I still owned as I knew how much my skin needed hydration and lots of it.After all of the above, here is where I currently stand with the new dermatologist and what has been recommended:(1) Come in for a Hydration Facial performed (granted, I of all people know that my skin desperately needs moisture and I love a facial but I have NO idea what this entails and if I am not following it up with daily moisturizing the facial will be short lived)but that’s just my opinion.(2) Begin a maintenance program for 3 months using the following: AM: Obagi NuDerm Gentle Cleanser Toner Clear (alternate days) Exfoderm (alternate days) Healthy Skin Sunscreen PM: Obagi NuDerm Gentle Cleanser Toner 0.05% Tretinoin (every night) Blender (in addition every other night) I agree with the scaled back approach above for a given time as I could tell, in just the short time I was off of everything besides the cleanser/toner that my skin needed hydration. I know my own skin very, very well and it needs daily moisturization without denying that the occasional facial is not out of line (and it’s so nice to be pampered!)I would really like to incorporate appropriate moisturizing and nourishing product(s), that would not conflict or double up on what I am currently using.I do want to go on record as thanking you from the bottom of my heart for your Obagi NuDerm exposing the existence of the Actinic Keratosis. It was always there because of the sun damage and your skincare regimen made me take quick action. It also taught me how important sun protection is and many, many thanks.I well appreciate your position on not second guessing another physician and I am totally comfortable with that. I look forward to hearing from you and I hope that I can incorporate some of ZO Skin Health into my daily regimen. I am going to purchase your ZO Skin Health produsts for hands today and other than that, I await your reply at your convenience.Thank you for your time and dedication to your legacy.God Bless You,Anne

Yes, I am under allot of stress right now and do have BI-Polar Disorder, Depression and Anxiety. I do take medications and I believe they have taken a toll on my face.I take excellent care of my skin, Obaji and ZO Maintenance. I live in Florida so UV exposure is always here. I wear a high level 365 days a year, have Peels, Laser work and topical injections.My skin is smooth, few lines, mostly movement lines which I have treated with fillers and Botox.I do believe that the stress and medications have played part in my skin and need to know if you have any ideas that I could incorporate into my skincare routine. No, the NuDerm products were not recommended by a skincare specialist as I have used the products on and off for many years.I am just finishing 18 weeks of the agressive program and my skin is very tolerable especially as I have used Retin A 0.1 for years whether on NuDerm or some other skincare program. Yes, I am quilty of mixing other skincare with NuDerm and know better. plan to consult one of your aestheticians after the first of the new year.Happy Holidays to all,Judi

I purchased the Daily Renewal CrÃ¨me, to use on the days when Iâm in a hurry and/or wish to skip a day using the Exfoderm and Clear. And I do understand your concept with this container, however, after using it only a couple of times, (had it for less than a week) it no longer pumps. Help! Is there a way to make it pump again?
